2011-04-16 Springville morning pictures

I was finally up early enough to get the morning action of the water fowl.  It was so nice to see wild birds hopefully heading north.

2011-04-15 Page, AZ to Springville, Utah.

We crossed into Utah and weather was a whole lot nicer.  Cherry trees were in full bloom, beautiful!!
The Moqui Caves were really strange but interesting.  We are starting to see more range land with not only cows  but llamas grazing.  The cost of fuel has gone up.... now $4.18 per gallon.   We stopped for the night at a government camp ground at Utah lake.  Beautiful and really quiet.  Took some pictures of the early arrivals of geese and long neck mud ducks.

2011-04-15 Glen Canyon Dam near Page, AZ

We drove out from Page, AZ to the Glen Canyon Dam.  It is a smaller version of the Hoover Dam but still very impressive.   There is a  grass section at the foot of the dam, but looks like a golf course for Karen and Frank.     There is a large reservoir to the north-west of the damn that accommodates large boats for fishing as well as house boats for the summer tourists.  The Colorado River flows south-west where zodiac boats give a tour of that side of the damn.  The bridge resembles the new bridge constructed over the Colorado River at Hoover Dam.

2011-04-14 Grad Canyon, south Rim

We drove from Williams, AZ to the Grand Canyon along the south rim.  What a spectacular sight!!
Ray wanted me to back up a little more, (you know closer to the edge) for a better shot he said.  Ha  We stopped a several pull outs to get a good look at all the ridges, and finally came across a tower that gave us a view of the Colorado River.

2011-04-11 Petrified Forest National Park, AZ

The Petrified Forest National Park, AZ   This is the most amazing place to see.  The trees/rocks are huge and can be seen  everywhere.  The trees are located all over the park.

2011-- Salt River Canyon, Arizona

Travelling north on highway 60, we suddenly find ourselves on a very steep road.  The elevation is 6723feet.  We travel at a very slow pace of 25 to 30 mph for approximately 32 miles.  The road is steep ( 6.5%) and one hairpin turn after an other.  The Salt River is beautiful with a small water falls at the bottom.  There is a yellow sports car over the side on the north end that just didn't quite make the turn.  It was very windy and not to warm up at that elevation so I was surprised to see flowers growing up there.
This is surely a must see to experience the grandeur of it all.

2011-04-10 Apache Gold Casino by Cutter, AZ

In the middle of the desert, no town or city close, this casino is spectacular.   It is owned and operated by the Apache band.  We had a great smorg and the price was right.
